Yeast Infection Answers - About Us
This about us page will give you some info on who I am and why I do what I do. Hi, my name is Lisa and I am so glad that you found your way to Yeast Infection Answers. Hmm...Yeast infections...I have to admit, I never thought that I would have a website dedicated to yeast and Candida. This is not exactly a topic that is easy to talk about. In fact, many of my friends and family don't know that I have had a personal battle with Candida for years. Because yeast and Candida have affected my life so drastically, I am extrememly interested (ok - obsessed) in learning everything I can about Candida. I know that Chronic yeast infections and Candida can have vague and far-reaching impacts on a person's health. So, the more knowledge I can gather (and share with you), the more able I am to maximize my health. I want to be healthy for me, but also for my 3 children and husband. We have been through alot of good times and hard times in 19 years of marriage. Life is precious - you realize this even more when your husband breaks his neck mountain biking. Our world was thrown upside down. I went into auto-pilot. I needed to care for him, raise the kids and keep our life going. Talk about making me re-assess what my priorities were. After an amazing recovery, my husband is completely healed and able to play hockey, walk, and run again. (can you tell what is important in his world?) From this huge life experience and others that have rocked our world, I've learned that if I let my health take a back seat, I will be of no use to anyone who needs me. I am not a doctor, health professional or nurse. But, I do know a ton about yeast and Candida related health issues. My personal interest is what keeps me focused. If I don't know something...I know that, with time, effort and determination, I can find out the answer. My educational background - a Bachelor of Education from University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts from Simon Fraser University - has given me the tools to be a thorough and extensive researcher. Work as a research assistant at the university honed my skills further. Ten years work as a teacher developed my desire to help others learn and be the best they can be. I truly believe in lifelong learning. I believe that knowledge is power. Especially, when it concerns your own health. The more you know, the more able you are to make educated decisions, ask informed questions and make sound decisions about your health. You need to be your own advocate.
Other than learning and sharing about Candida and yeast, I keep very busy with my growing family. I have an 11, 13 and 4 year old that keep me hopping.
I jog, like to hike, play a little Wii fit-now and then, enjoy cooking, will go walking anytime, volunteer when I can, flip and build houses
for fun, love, love, love being on and by the water, and treasure just hanging out with family and friends. I started the company Pro-d Online in 2000, when I decided to retire from my full time teaching career and become self-employed. I designed and sold online professional development for teachers. That was a hugely steep learning curve - but nothing ventured, nothing gained - right? When our third child was born, I closed this part of Pro-d Online to focus on family and real estate ventures. Life is certainly never dull. Amidst all this, I battled on and off with yeast and Candida. In 2008, I decided to put all my knowledge down on paper. I have always tried to keep a journal and this was a natural extension. The website, Yeast-Infection-Answers.com, seemed like a perfect way to share what I know. Yeast related issues are not easy to talk about. The Internet provides an excellent avenue to learn all you can about this delicate topic. I hope that this website gives you some of the answers you are looking for. If you don't find what you need, feel free to contact me anytime. I KNOW I can find the answer you are looking for. Thanks for checking out Yeast-Infection-Answers.com. Good luck and good health to you, Lisa Return to top of Yeast Infection Answers - About Us page |
