Candida Causes, What Causes a Yeast Infection and a Systemic Candida Infection

There are so many Candida causes that it is impossible to point to one single cause of my systemic yeast infections.

Instead, there likely were many things that caused a yeast imbalance in my system.

Often, it takes years for an overload to build up and finally takeover.

It was a gradual takeover of systemic Candida infection for me.

And it took much trial and error to figure out the best way to treat and get rid of the yeast for good!

Once I had received my first Candida diagnosis, I began to look back on my eating habits, lifestyle and anything else that may have impacted my immune system.

I couldn't figure out why I had trouble with Candida. I was young and active.

But, I soon realized that there were things that could have contributed to my chronic yeast infections.

I realized that when I was growing up, I tended to frequently eat the same foods. Even though I ate a meat and potatoes diet, there wasn't alot of variety in my diet...nor was I eating alot of vegetables.

I knew the saying 'eat your vegies', but I wasn't taking it to heart, obviously.

My diet lacked variety.

As well, I often had food cravings. I really craved chocolate and I ate sweets and simple carbohydrates daily.

I think I had french fries or a scone almost every day of university.
(the days of eating anything without gaining weight)

birth control pills

I had chronic laryngitis as a teen and eventually had my tonsils removed. I took many, many antibiotics during this time.

I took birth control pills for many years into my late 20's.

Any of these factors could have contributed
to my first stint with Candida 15 years ago.

  • poor diet
  • food cravings
  • eating sweets
  • antibiotics
  • birth control pills

  • Exercise, a normal weight and an active lifestyle weren't enough to offset these various Candida causes. Perhaps, I was genetically predisposed - who knows.

My second experience with systemic Candidiasis was likely caused by different factors.

3 kids and a busy life

    I was older this time.

I now had a history of diabetes - gestational diabetes to be exact.

I had been through 3 pregnancies. I knew I was hormonal at times.

I had additional stress in my life with 3 kids, sick family members, and a busy, busy life.

My undiagnosed food sensitivities and lactose intolerance also all increased the chances of Candida taking over.

Candida causes are typical in a North American lifestyle.

Many people eat packaged foods, fast foods and junk food.

    I was no exception.

    improved eating

But, then even when I had improved my eating...I still found myself falling victim to Candida.

It helps to learn what causes your Candida so that you can make changes.

Nutritional and lifestyle changes can help prevent systemic yeast infections from occuring.

For me, a true holistic treatment approach for treating yeast infections is my best protection and what has worked best for me.
