Stop Craving Sugar And You Will Stop Treating Yeast Infections And Candida

Why You Need To Know How To Stop Sugar Cravings

Craving sugar creates a no-win cycle for the battle against Candida and yeast infections.

If you are like most people, you probably cannot make it through your day without dealing with a sugar craving.

Some people don't realize how much sugar is actually in their daily diet.

People often say... "Oh, I don't crave sweets - it's the salty and crunchy foods I crave." But doesn't the salty, crunchy food have sugar in it too? Hmmmm.

These simple carbohydrates convert to sugar in our systems very quickly.

This burst of sugar will feed the yeast, just like a burst of straight sugar would.

Some people feel smug because they don't eat any cane sugar. Instead, they eat artificial sweeteners and other natural sweeteners. Unfortunately, some of these sweeteners will keep you in the craving sugar cycle.

Why We Have Daily Sugar Cravings

  • familiar
  • tradition
  • comforting
  • habit
  • addictive
  • hormones such as serotonin chemicals in your brain
  • Lower serotonin levels can trigger sugar cravings. This is the chemical in your brain which makes you feel happy or content. Sugar increases the amino acid tryptophan. The body uses tryptophan to make serotonin emotions.

Find Out How Much Sugar You Really Eat

Track your eating. Keep a Daily Food Journal to see what you are putting in your mouth and when. Read labels to look for hidden sugars in your food. You won't be able to deal with your sugar cravings until you know what and when you are eating sugar.

Sugar can be found in much more than the white sugary stuff - think about honey, sweeteners, jam, bread, colas, ice cream, ketchup, sauces, molasses, any of the ingredients ending in 'ose' such as lactose, dextrose, sucrose etc, breakfast cereal, peanut butter - the list just goes on and on.

The average American eats two pounds of sugar each week. Do you?

Be ruthless with your food tracking to find all the sources of sugar in your diet.

The Vicious Sugar Cycle And Candida

Sugar raises our insulin levels, which inhibit the release of growth hormones, which in turn depresse our immune system.

To put it bluntly, some feel that sugar is where disease starts.

It certainly is where yeast infections and Candida start. Candida albicans yeast feed, grows and thrives on sugar.

One of the hardest things about the yeast infection diet is that you need to cut out all sugar, avoid breads, dairy and simple carbohydrates.

    How To Stop Craving Sugar

  • Surround yourself with healthy sugar free snacks.
  • Chromium Picolinate is a mineral that studies have shown may reduce carbohydrate cravings.
  • Eat Fruit including the skin as the fiber in the skin helps slow the absorption of blood sugar
  • Exercise
  • Avoid feeling tired, fatigued, stressed or depressed - ie. overeating, lack of sleep, emotional coping can make you feel sluggish and make you reach for stimulants like sugar to give you a burst of energy
  • Reduce salt - Thirst and a craving for sweet foods is one of the most reliable indicators of excess dietary salt.
