It is when you use psyllium husks and bentonite clay together. This is a great homemade colon cleanse that has tons of benefits, especially for those of us dealing with Candida or yeast infections.

  • What Do Some of The Experts Say About Bentonite Clay and Psyllium?

It is easy to find alternative doctors who support the use of a PB shake, but here is what a popular mainstream doctor had to say... Bentonite, in the form of purified clay, is an absorbent substance that may be able to relieve diarrhea. It may also be able to absorb toxic substances in the intestines and prevent them from causing nausea or upset. You can find bensonite preparations in many health food stores. Dr. Oz

Eating soluble fiber found in psyllium seed husks, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables is good because it forms a gel in the gut that can slow gut movement and decrease pressure. Dr. Oz

There are no known side effects of ingesting Bentonite clay, but there haven't been any longitudinal studies done either. Also, some people have expressed concern over a high aluminum content in the bentonite clay. People worry that prolonged cleansing with bentonite clay can imbalance your electrolyte levels. There are always two sides to any treatment. The best idea is to talk to your health care provider to find out what is best for you.

How To Do This Homemade Colon Cleanse With Psyllium and Bentonite

    You need:

    1. powdered or whole husk psyllium
    2. bentonite clay in liquid form
    3. 1 8-10 oz. glass of filtered, purified water
    4. teaspoon
    5. tablespoon
    Making Your PB Shake:

  • Add 1 tsp psyllium and 1 tbsp bentonite clay to your glass of water and mix well.
  • Drink immediately because the psyllium absorbs the water and thickens the longer it sits.
  • It will have a chalky taste.
  • Wash down with more water. Another 8 oz glass of water.
  • Note: Some people like to make their PB shake with juice, but juice is not good for those with candida or yeast infections. If you just can't stand the taste, use a splash of juice for flavoring. But, do this with caution depending what point you are in your treatment program. If you are just using this for a colon cleanse naturally and you don't have yeast issues - try juice to make it more palatable.

  • Must Do's For Homemade Colon Cleanse PB Shake

For this colon cleanse to work it's best, you must drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water.

For example, if you are 140 lbs, you need 70 ounces of water. This means drinking close to 9 eight ounce glasses of water.

This cleanse won't work if you don't drink the recommended water.

How Long Does This Home Remedy Colon Cleanse PB Shake Last?

Start with 1 cleanse mixture a day and observe the results for a week or so. Gradually work up to no more than 4 cleansing drinks a day. 4 tbsp a day of bentonite clay is the recommended daily dosage.

    Listen to your body.

People do this cleanse for at least 3 months and some up to 6 months, however ask your health care provider what is best for you.

Home Remedy Colon Cleanse Tips For Success

Take a probiotic supplement to make sure you populate your gut, colon and intestines with healthy bacteria.

Drink your psyllium and bentonite clay shake on an empty stomach, or at least an hour before or after a meal and medication or immediately before sleeping at night.

If constipation occurs, increase your water intake, exercise, reduce the amount of shakes your taking and some people even try enemas.

Eat cleanly and in a candida yeast diet friendly way. In a nutshell, a cleaner diet means you should reduce or stop your intake of meats, dairy, flours, sugars, and processed foods.

Set a schedule for drinking your shakes. Maybe first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Or, 1 hour after meals. Find a routine that works for you.

Consider doing this home remedy colon cleanse 2-4 times a year for optimal digestive health and results.

    Don't Forget...
Talk to your doctor or health care provider if this is your first cleanse. They may recommend a colon cleanse that is suited to your particular needs.

If you do this cleanse and don't feel the benefits or results you were looking for, then you can consider some of the all natural cleansing products available.

Cleansing is controversial. Our bodies are made to get rid of our 'waste' material, and eating a healthy diet with lots of water and vegetables (and fruit if you can tolerate it) is always your best first option to get your colon moving.
