(Yes You Can!)

How To Cure Nail Fungus At Home
Top 3 Nail Fungus Remedies

A nail fungus infection occurs when fungus infects one or more of your nails. It may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail.

Without treatment, the fungus may spread deeper into your nail. It may cause nail to discolor, develop crumbling edges or to thicken. And, it will look ugly.

It might even be painful. Nail fungus is known to be difficult to treat and difficult to get rid of. Just when you think you have gotten rid of it, an infection may reoccur.

There are many home remedies for toenail fungus and finger nail fungus.

But, these are the most used 3 nail fungus remedies that you might try.

1. Vicks Vapor Rub Nail Fungus

There is alot of talk on the internet about using Vicks Vapor Rub for nail fungus. The company that makes Vicks, however, does not support this. The company website states: "We haven't tested nor has the FDA approved Vicks VapoRub as a toenail fungus treatment. Therefore, we do not recommend it for treatment of toenail fungus."

Before using this or any treatment, talk to your doctor to see what they recommend.

The ingredients in Vicks Rub are:
Medicinal Ingredients:

  • Camphor 4.73%
  • Menthol 2.6%
  • Eucalyptus Oil 1.2%
Non-medicinal Ingredients:
  • Cedarleaf oil
  • myristica oil
  • special petrolatum
  • thymol
  • turpentine oil

Perhaps the reason Vicks works for some people's nail fungus is because of the eucalyptus oil. However, unlike tea tree oil or vinegar - there are also alot of other ingredients in Vicks that are not very 'natural'.

Even though this treatment is gaining popularity, you'll have to decide if one of the following more natural treatments might be better for you.

2. Vinegar
The most common types of vinegar used for nail fungus are apple cider vinegar or white vinegar - although any type of vinegar will have the same effect.

Apply the vinegar directly to your nail. You can do this by spraying the white vinegar on the nail or by soaking your nails. Soaking the nails gets the vinegar under the nail bed. Soak your nails for 15-20 minutes in 1 part vinegar 2 parts water. Repeat this treatment twice a day.

You can also use apple cider vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in a 50/50 mixture and apply it as directed above.

The acidity of the vinegar corrects the ph balance which fights the fungus growth in your nail.

3.Tea Tree Oil Nail Fungus: is natural treatment for nail fungus. Many people prefer this treatment because there are no added chemicals. As well, tea tree oil is meant to be applied topically and is a known anti-fungal and antiseptic. It is one of the most popular home remedies for nail fungus.
