Intense itch during yeast infection TREATMENT?

by Kathleen
(Fresno)

I used an over the counter treatment for a yeast infection the other night and today my vagina itches really really really badly. It's just kind of like this intense itch that happens all of a sudden, and it itches even more than before when I hadn't used the cream! Why is this happening? Did it make things even worse down there for me? Any helpful advice is appreciated :)

Yeah, going to a doctor is a good idea. But, if you can't do this, try to get some relief from the itching by sitting in a bath with vinegar in it. Fill the tub to hip height with warm water and then add 1/2 cup vinegar (you can use apple cider vinegar). This should help with the itching.

Also, try a different brand of anti-fungal yeast infection cream. It sounds like you may be allergic or are reacting to the one you tried.

Read the package to see that the different cream is a different anti-fungal. For example, monistat is miconazole and canesten is clotrimazole. Check for the active ingredient.

If none of this helps, check with your doctor.
