Recurrent yeast infection that won't go away - why isn't my yeast infection gone yet?

I have gotten yeast infections for a couple years now, but they have never been as bad as this one. It burned and itched and got kinda swollen feeling for a few days.

I used Monistat 1 but it's been almost a week now and I still have symptoms. Normally, it's all cleared up by now, but I'm still having the cottage cheese looking discharge. Everything else is looking pretty good.

I'm just wondering....does this mean I'm having a bigger problem or is this just part of the healing process?

Sorry For The Delay

Hopefully, you have found some relief from your yeast infection and you are not still suffering.

Often a one shot dose of an antifungal medication like Monistat 1, may not be enough to fight a chronic, recurring yeast infection.

Just in case you are still dealing with a chronic yeast infection, here are some things to consider...

1. What You Are Eating: You need to look realistically at your diet. There is a strong possibility that you are eating foods that are helping keep you in a chronic state of distress. What you are eating is likely feeding the yeast and causing your digestive tract to be inflamed and irritated. Like it is in an allergic response state. I'd strongly recommend looking into food allergy testing. This can be done with a blood test, a VEGA test or by food elimination. Once you have done this, follow the tips on our Nutrition page to eat a balanced healthy diet.

2. Treat Your Symptoms AND Kill The Yeast: There are many great ideas for symptom relief and curing candida. Check out this link for yeast infection treatment options.

3.Build Up Your Immune System and Probiotic Levels: Start taking a multi-vitamin, eating yogurt or take a probiotic supplement. Also, lack of sleep and stress can wreak havoc on our immune systems. Try to address these factors too.

Hope this helps~ let me know how you're doing.
