The most common recurrent yeast infection symptom is vaginal infections. But, really, Candida yeast overgrowth can mean many more health issues. My story will show you how to prevent recurrent yeast infections, share what were my yeast infection causes and how my Candida symptoms were figured out.
My name is Lisa and I'd like to tell you all about my personal experience with a systemic yeast infection.
As you may know, a systemic yeast infection is when the yeast called Candida Albicans has overgrown in your digestive tract.
It can cause multiple symptoms
and health problems such as chronic yeast infections, leaky gut, food sensitivities or fatigue.
Even though you and I are supposed to have Candida yeast in and on our body, when there is too much of it - you can feel awful, irritable and downright frustrated!
In the beginning of my Candida journey, I knew very little about nutrition, I had never heard of Candida Albicans yeast, knew nothing about 'intestinal flora', or what my immune system really was worth to me.
I was busy enjoying and living life as a freshly finished university student.
I was newly married.
I had started my new chosen career as
a teacher and loved it!
I enjoyed going out with friends and family
- eating or drinking whatever or whenever I felt like. Purely focused on eating what tasted good.
I was healthy and active and loved to do hikes throughout our local mountains,
numerous 10km
runs or team races - basically what many active, young people do.
I got my first real yeast infection.
Yes, I mean what everyone thinks of when you say...the dreaded words...yeast infection.
Ug- that was no fun.
I hustled to the clinic and then to the drugstore, to buy my first over the counter kit of anti-fungal treatment. Oh joy!
For some people this is where it would all end, they would treat their yeast infection and just move on...BUT...
This is how it all began for me...me and Candida.
Me and systemic yeast infections.
Me and a long, rollercoaster journey
of learning
about my own personal health, nutrition and unique needs.
As you may have guessed, the yeast infections kept returning. Ug! A recurrent yeast infection. I would treat, feel better for awhile, and then the next month... guess who (or should I say what) was back???
I began to go to different doctors for answers. Finally, my systemic yeast infection and Candida were diagnosed.
Before I had figured out that a recurrent yeast infection meant a systemic yeast infection (which was the real issue), I had to live with numerous symptoms.
My Candida symptoms seemed to change as time went on.
I began to read everything I could to figure out what caused my Candida and recurrent yeast infection. I knew there were foods that I ate and craved all the time (like these yummy chocolate chip cookies), but didn't think there was any connection. Hmmmm - how naive was that?
I tried every home remedy imaginable.
Finally, after much trial and error and learning the hard way, I figured out how to successfully treat my Candida, Yeast Infections and recurrent yeast infection.
I totally understand that I need to make sure to get good bacteria to get the health benefits of probiotics into my system and digestive tract.
Also, because of how aggressive Candida Albican yeast is I need to remember how to boost immune system health in a way that works for me.

What I eat could be a whole website in itself. My kids claim
(or is it complain) that I eat
more vegetables than a rabbit. Others think I am a health freak or have some bizarre willpower.
But, reality is that it is none of the above.
After following strict Candida diet guidelines,
I just now know
what food works for me and what doesn't.
I have discovered some commercially produced
diet programs
which have worked for me and Candida too.
Although, I like to think of them more as a
way of eating, than a diet program. I have never been really worried about my weight.

Ok, not entirely true.
It would be nice to drop a few pounds of baby fat (from over 4 years ago)!!
I hope my story helps you realize that you are not alone and that you have lots of options.
I would love to hear your story with Candida,
fungus or yeast.
