Thrush Symptoms


A white tongue is not normal. Check out your tongue. Do you know what thrush symptoms look like?

How does your tongue look? A healthy tongue looks pinkish colored and even in tone. It looks fine and feels fine. A tongue with thrush occurs when Candida and other fungi overgrow.

Symptoms

Thrush can form on the tongue, palate, gums or elsewhere inside the mouth. A white tongue that can't be wiped clean is often the most basic symptom.

  • thick, white, lacy patches on top of a red base
  • patches may look like milk curds
  • white areas cannot easily be wiped away
  • may bleed if you try to wipe away white patches
  • tongue may be red without a white coating
  • can be painful or not at all
  • eating may be difficult
  • drinking may be difficult - be aware of deydration


Fortunately, the symptoms for thrush are usually mild (unless you are immune compromised) and clear up with treatment.
