Thrush Causes To Think About

Is thrush making your tongue white? If you have a white tongue and you can't wipe it off, without it bleeding, you likely have it.

You may have white patches elsewhere in your mouth instead. Yeast is everywhere.

Yeast is commonly present in areas of moisture such as the mouth.

And, dentures can act as a perfect breeding ground for oral yeast infections.

Possible causes of an oral yeast infection are:



    For Babies:
  • may be exposed to yeasts during birth
  • may be exposed to yeasts from mother
  • bottles or pacifiers may be source


  • For Adults and Children:

  • Dentures
  • Poor eating habits such as a high sugar diet
  • Diabetes (abnormal carbohydrate metabolism) and uncontrolled blood sugar that is high,
  • Lack of sleep - fatigue
  • Hormonal fluctuations - often get one right before period, from Menopause, Birth control pills, Pregnancy
  • Weakened immune system and illness
  • Lactose intolerance and/or food sensitivities
  • Steroids
  • Stress
  • Antibiotics - in particular broad spectrum
  • Poor hygiene - dirty bottles, toys, pacifiers
  • HIV positive or immuno-defiency




Fortunately, symptoms of oral Candida are usually mild and clear up easily with treatment.
