Treating yeast infections can be easy. There are tons of ways of killing Candida. I will tell you how I personally treated my past yeast infections. I will be brutally honest with what I liked, didn't like, noticed or felt.
Here is an alphabetical listing of home remedies for yeast infections, yeast infection medications and yeast infection creams I have tried. As well, there are some homeopathic remedies I used for killing Candida.
acidopholus
The type of Acidopholus that I use is HMF Super Powder by Genestra Brands.
While treating yeast infections and Candida, I took 1/2 teaspoon twice per day.
Now that my treatment is finished, my maintenance amount is 1/4 teaspoon per day mixed in a little water.
Each 1/4 teaspoon contains:
apple cider vinegar
This is a multi-purpose treatment for treating yeast infections. Candida and apple cider vinegar is a more commonly known home rememdy.
Sitz bath:
I have used bargain basement apple cider vinegar in a bath and it was great for easing itchiness and treating yeast infections.
I filled the bath, with warm water, just up to my hip and added 1/2-1 cup of vinegar.
I know that many recommend using only the 'good' vinegar for this, but I save the good stuff for eating and drinking.
I sit in the apple cider vinegar sitz bath until the water cools.
Although, this treatment was really effective for giving relief of itching,
I am not much of a bath person so it is hard to motivate myself or make time to have a bath.
I do like how cheap and easy this is.
vaginal douche
At bedtime, I have used an apple cider douche of 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar in 16 oz of warm water.
I did this for 2-3 nights during a vaginal
yeast infection. It was helpful and fairly easy. You just need to buy some sort of squirt bottle from the dollar store or they have douches at
the drugstore.
If you have had a vaginal delivery of a baby, you may have used a squirt bottle type idea after delivery.
This is the type of squirt bottle I mean.
In a drink:
I try to only use the good stuff when I consume it.
I, on occasion, drink 1-2 tsps of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water.
I try to drink lots of water throughout the day to help flush my system too.
I have used the Bragg apple cider vinegar brand and liked it.
On food:
1 tbsp on salad is great. It seems like such a treat to have vinegar. It is good mixed with cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil on salads too.
aloe vera juice and gel
aloe vera juice:
I have just recently started drinking aloe vera juice and it is such an easy and effortless way of supporting my immune system.
I really like it!
The juice is clear and tasteless.
In fact, it tastes like water.
The brand I use is George's 100% Aloe Vera.
I drink 2 oz once a day, this works out to 1/4 cup. On the container it recommends taking 2 oz twice a day,
but I have a hard enough time making a habit of once a day, so I will have to work up to that.
I noticed an improvement in my digestion with more regular...you know...bowels.
aloe vera gel:
I have used the gel to help relieve itching down there when treating yeast infections.
I was only somewhat satisfied with aloe vera gel.
It didn't offer me alot of relief, but others say that they like using aloe vera for getting relief from vaginal yeast infection symptoms.
I found it a bit watery, drippy, kind of messy and only had very temporary relief.
The positive is that I can keep the aloe vera gel on hand to use for skin irritations or burns.
anti-candida diet
This is a critical part of any Candida treatment plan and part of treating yeast infections.
There are many different versions out there on what to do when following an anti-candida diet.
I used the one recommended to me by my naturopath. It worked well for me.
I followed strict
Candida diet guidelines
that were challenging at times, but well worth it in the long run.
Over time, I have figured out
Simple Candida Diet Tips
to help me remain Candida free.
Aveeno itch cream
I tried the Aveeno brand of anti-itch cream on my skin rashes.
It really didn't work that well for me.
It seemed ok at first, but it did not give me much relief after its' initial application.
Because my rashes
were caused by Candida, they needed something that was more of an anti-fungal.
baking soda
When I was little and had hives, I remember soaking in a bath mixed with baking soda. Because hives were
itchy and it helped hives, I thought it might help my skin itchiness and for treating yeast infections.
I was totally wrong!
Do NOT try baking soda.
It made everything, everywhere sting and hurt and it definitely did not help.
berberine
While on my first anti-Candida treatment plan, I was prescribed Berberine by my naturopath for treating yeast infections.
This anti-fungal, anti-bacterial herb helped fight my Candida, soothe my digestive tract,
stimulate my immune system and normalize intestinal flora.
This is a natural. herbal dietary supplement
that I took in pill form.
Berberine is derived from various plants such as golden seal, Oregon grape and barberry.
It was easy to take and not overly expensive.
betacarotene
This was a supplement I was prescribed during my first anti-candida treatment plan which played an
important role in treating yeast infections for me.
Beta carotene is an antioxidant which protects
the body's mucous membranes. Strong mucous membranes help fight Candida.
Candida often grows on and in the mucous membranes of our digestive
tract and intestines.
Beta carotene can help resist this and help to build up our defenses against Candida.
Also, it is great for restoring
normal immune function and combatting free radicals.
bentonite liquid clay
I mixed bentonite liquid, psyllium husks and water to make a cement colored, thick goopy drink.
It was hard to choke down and literally felt like I was drinking clay. But, I eventually got used to it (spoken by someone determined to get healthy!).
I often washed it all down with lots of water.
The purpose of it all,
was it helped me deal with my Candida die off reactions while treating yeast infections.
The benonite clay is supposed to attract toxins
in my bowels and help clear my system. The psyllium husks help combat any constipation caused by the bentonite clay.
It worked well for clearing the walls of my gastro-intestinal tract.
As you can see, there are many, many things out there for treating yeast infections and killing Candida.
I have used and still use many of these treatments. Some of them are great as a preventative measure,
while others make sense for
keeping my immune system supported.
