5 Simple Ways To Deal With Vaginal Burning

Vaginal burning is a common yeast infection symptom.

A yeast infection can cause the vagina to become irritated. Also, yeast infections can be very itchy. Itching the vagina may seem like a good idea and offer some brief relief. But, itching can end up causing the vagina to burn worse than it did before.

The best way to deal with this annoying symptom caused by a yeast infection is to treat the yeast infection. Once a yeast infection is treated, the vaginal burning will usually go away.

If you have had a yeast infection before and are sure that it is the cause of your vaginal irritation, then keep reading for ideas of how to deal with this ever so annoying symptom. If you have never had a yeast infection before, make sure you see a health professional.

Or, buy a self-testing yeast infection screening kit to be sure it is a yeast infection. There are many causes of vaginal burning and you want to be sure of what is causing your vaginal problems.

1. Over The Counter Anti-Fungal Medication
Vaginal burning caused by a yeast infection can be treated with over the counter anti-fungal medication such as Monistat You can buy them as 1 day, 3 day or 7 day treatments.

2. Homeopathic All Natural Yeast Infection Medicine
Sometimes you might want to try a homeopathic treatment. AZO Natural Yeast Symptom Prevention and Relief allows you to treat your yeast infection using botanical, natural ingredients. Those who have used this product rave about how easy it is to take (it is in tablet form) and how effective it is.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar
If you haven't tried a good quality apple cider vinegar before, you will be pleasantly surprised with the 'zingier' taste. You might also be surprised to learn that using a little apple cider vinegar on your salads will help with vaginal yeast infections.

But, what will help even more is using 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar in a warm tub with the water filled to about hip height. The vinegar/water solution will not only offer some relief, but it will help act as a mild anti-fungal.

The type of apple cider vinegar I enjoy the most is Bragg - Apple Cider Vinegar. This is a great price compared to what I can get when I buy locally.

4. Yogurt
Pretty soon I will have to start wearing an "I love yogurt" t-shirt, (yes, they really do exist!) because I keep talking about the benefits of yogurt when treating yeast infections ...but really, yogurt can be a great treatment for burning in the vaginal area.

Make sure to buy the plain, unsweetened yogurt and apply it to the irritated area. The coolness will offer you some needed relief. Some people use a sanitary pad to avoid a mess. The yogurt's active bacterial cultures (look for this on the label) will also help combat the yeast infection.

5. Prescription Anti-Fungal Medication
If you are heading to the doctor for a diagnosis of your vaginal burning, you will probably head home with a prescription for antifungal medications such as Diflucan or Nizoral. Both are very effective against yeast infections. They are taken orally.
