what causes yeast infections and FAQ page

Yeast Infections Can Affect Anyone

TV commercials make yeast infections out to exclusively be a female vaginal problem.

They are not.

A male yeast infection can happen to any guy too.

Yeast Infections Are Very Common

Every 3 out of 4 women wil have a yeast infection in their lifetime. Male yeast infections are a little less common - only a fraction of men will experience one in their lifetime.

Yeast Infections Have Many Causes and Many Symptoms

An extremely common cause of yeast infections is antibiotics, but there are many other yeast infection causes you might not know about. You will never get rid of your yeast infection for good, if you don't know what caused it in the first place.

Of the many yeast infection symptoms, the most attention grabbing is the itching. The itching can make it hard to concentrate on other things and can certainly make you feel irritable and grouchy.

But....Exactly What Is A Yeast Infection??

Simply put, a yeast infection is when yeast in your body overgrows. It really isn't an 'infection' from some outside bacteria or virus. Instead, it is when the already present Candida decides to take over and be a bully!

We all have Candida Albicans yeast (also known as a diploid fungus) in and on our bodies. It is supposed to be there. It co-exists with a huge number of other types of yeasts and fungi in our digestive flora and intestinal tract.

But, as Wikipediea states,
"To infect host tissue, the usual unicellular yeast-like form of C. albicans reacts to environmental cues and switches into an invasive, multicellular filamentous forms".
.

So, in other words, if some yeast infection causes happen, a yeast infection will occur.

It is a delicate balance that many people keep in perfect balance without even thinking about it.

However, a growing percentage of the population needs to put some (or even lots of) effort into keeping their Candida levels in check.

Noone likes to have an infection. And, noone likes to feel ill.

Knowing what is a yeast infection helps you understand what is going on with your body and realize that it is a common, preventable, treatable occurence.
